Scarf- Vintage
Belt- Vintage

Bracelet- Vintage Ralph Lauren

This is what I wore yesterday while I was downtown. The sun was out and the weather was great until later in the day it got chilly then cold! I usually NEVER wear flats however, it's smarter when going downtown because you're always moving not to mention its more comfortable. The "skirt" I'm wearing is really a top by Anna Sui. I love converting my pieces especially if it's possible and wearable!

Flaunt D.I.Y: Aldo Contest Submission

This is my entry for the contest...wish me luck!

If you're an ALDO shoe buyer especially an online buyer then you should be familiar with the D.I.Y contest that they've promoted! ALDO has asked for people to create their own D.I.Y shoe, boot or handbag using any and everything as long as it's an ALDO brand.

So of course I decided to create my own D.I.Y on a pair of patent pumps I no longer wanted in hopes to win the grand prize. The winner will have the oppurtunity to collaborate on an ALDO shoe design for the F/W 2010 collection to be featured in Teen Vogue!

Wish me luck to become one of the top 10 finalist & potentially move to the next round were the public (YOU Flaunt Followers) can vote!

Flaunt D.I.Y: My Aldo Contest How-To

Materials:

1. Grommet Kit
2. Scissors
3. Hammer
4. Ruler

D.I.Y for the "Flaunt" heel by KethiaJ

This D.I.Y is actually quite simple as long as you have the right materials and a little strength. These heels I bought from ALDO about 2 years ago and I was ready to get rid of them after replacing them with a pair from Target which had a higher heel. So using these to enter the contest worked out perfect and the timing couldn't be any better!

Before starting measure where you want the holes to be placed & mark with a pen.

1. To make holes take the hole cutter and place at 1st marked area. Make sure to hold securely when puncturing leather. Twist your way through with a lot of force until a hole is made.
2. If there happens to be access leather remove it by cutting off with scissors.
3. Place a grommet base in the grommet setter.
4. Place a grommet top on the grommet inserting die and on top of wood base.
5. Place setter through pre-made hole with steps 3 & 4 intact.
6. Hold securely while hammering grommets together. You only need to hammer really well about 2 times.
7. Continue until all holes are made and placed with grommets and voila! Done!

You can use grommets for anything by the way and it's a great way to update your pieces that you might not care for anymore. I was definitely inspired by Christopher Kane's line for TopShop and I happen to have a grommet kit laying around from a past project.

I hope you Flaunt Followers try this at home and if you do, send me an email and I'll re-post here!

The Flaunt Fashionista: something old...something new

Top-Vintage
Belt-Vintage

Boots-Bamboo
Watch-Michael Kors

This is what I wore today. Some old stuff and some new stuff. The belt and boots I just purchased not to long ago. The grey top is vintage which I got a few months ago.The pant leggings are Forever 21 like usual. Flaunt That Funky Music: Lykke Li "Everybody But Me"

I've always loved this song by Lykke Li but not just on how it sounds, but also the meaning behind the lyrics...
be your own individual Flaunt Followers in everything you do!

Ooh, I'm standing in the corner
Thinking all I want to
What am I to do?
Should I go home still sober
Should I buy me another glass of wine

And forget about time
Though my jeans are too tight
Don't feel like dancing
And all this light is too bright
Don't feel like shining
Though this room is too small
I'd rather stand against the wall
And hope that no one sees me-e-e-e-e

And everybody's dancing
I don't want to
And everybody's toying
I don't want to
And everybody's laughing
I don't want to
Everybody but me

And everybody's drinking
I don't want to
And everybody's using
I don't need more
And everybody's floating
I don't want to
Everybody but me, yeah

I get the creeps from all the people in here
I cannot breathe, it's too crowded in here
Don't look at me
I don't wanna be seen; touched; heard; bothered by the fellas
who got a look in their eye
They wanna take me home without knowing my name
They wanna put me on
But do they not know is that I'm not like the others

And everybody's dancing
I don't want to
And everybody's toying
I don't want to
And everybody's laughing
I don't want to
Everybody but me
(repeat 6x)

Flaunt Follicles: My Nappy Roots

Before there was the movie "Good Hair" there was "My Nappy Roots". I haven't see Good Hair yet and not to knock it but "My Nappy Roots" existed loooongg before and most can agree that it's more informative and appreciative. You be the judge. I saw this about 2 years ago and it's still relevant to share with you all today. Although I have seen it before it still gave me goosebumps!

Original email from a friend of mine:

Ladies,

Regina Kimbell is a friend of mine and the creator of the documentary "My Nappy Roots.". You may have heard that Chris Rock was being sued for stealing the idea for "Good Hair" and it's Regina who showed Chris her film 3 years ago. I want to support her, as she's worked VERY hard on her project, which is INCREDIBLE and moved me to tears when I saw it.

Please help us spread this clip if you can! If you have friends with blogs, TV or radio shows, I'd love to help her get her message out!

Love & Light,

Wendy Rose Berry

I ASK THAT YOU ALL SUPPORT THIS AWARD WINNING DOCUMENTARY BY FOLLOWING ON TWITTER @mynappyroots & visitng www.MyNappyRoots.com
Thanks in advance!

Flaunt D.I.Y Halloween! Selena Perez

pics courtesy of: selenaforever.com

As you all know, Halloween is this Saturday and most of you probably already have your costumes. As for me I'm not even close! So I've been trying to figure out at least one costume to wear as there are several parties to attend. If you follow me on Twitter then you would have most likely read that I may dress up as the late Selena Perez. She was such a care-free beautiful person with her own eccentric but fashionable style. Not to mention she had an amazing body! Here are are a few pics that have inspired me to mock for my Halloween outfit. I also feel Selena was ahead of her time with her signature sequined bustiers, fitted bottoms, sharp shoulders, and mesh spandex. I also learned she opened her own fashion boutique/salon (my dream) what a true fashionista right?! What do you think Flaunt Followers, & what else would you recommend!? sidebar- now I think I'm going to watch Selena the movie this weekend!

Flaunt Fabulous FInds: My Latest Clothing Purchases

In the past few weeks I got these amazing items! I already own tons of blazers, denim and waisted belts but I can't get enough of them. Especially blazers which I feel are a must-have staple for any wardrobe. I found this sick vintage navy Ralph Lauren blazer, this B.Newmen neon green blazer, and this snake skin camel waisted belt all at Goodwill! I swear when vintage shopping, items find me because I was only in there for about 20mins to kill time. It's like they whisper my name, "Kethia over here I wanna come home with you!"

I also purchased these black jeans w/ lace trim along the side from Forever 21 online. I was so ecstatic to get them in the mail so I wore them out that same night! The studded leather jacket is from this random boutique downtown & the owner was so nice, he even gave it to me for a cheaper price....score!

November 1st is around the corner which also means the day that Carlos Falchi launches his line for Target! I haven't been this excited about a designer handbag launch at Target since Gryson did their collaboration about a year ago. Of course the prices will be reasonable starting at $19.99 up to $49.99 vs. a few hundred dollars. I've posted some of my favorite handbags which I plan to hopefully get at least one especially the plum colored bag!!!

Flaunt Event Review: Miss Jessie's in LA at Wilshire Beauty

Yesterday I attended the Miss Jessies's event in Los Angeles. My friend Shawanna of Wilshire Beauty did an amazing job coordinating the event and I helped managed check-in. Soooo many beautiful natural curly-heads showed up while being introduced to 10 products of Miss Jessie's by the creators Titi and Miko Branch themselves! Make sure to check out the current issue of Essence for the Miss Jessie's product features as well.
There were product and styling demonstrations, individual consultations, product give-aways every hour, yummy goodies, and a Miss Jessie's gift bag which included a sample product not yet in stores! I had a great time and meet many beautiful naturals from young to old. For you True Blood fans, Rutina Wesley stopped by and even complimented on my hair! I also got recognized by the cutest Flaunt Fashionista Follower Monique who has recently started her own blog.
It was a full house of curly-head ladies!

Flaunt Fingers: Leopard Print in WHITE! Inspired my Jimmy Choo for H&M

I'm sure most of you have seen the latest ads in your current fashion mags of Jimmy Choo by H&M which are absolutely amazing! If you look closely the models nails are painted in sexy fall colors some with print designs. There's one specific model who's nails I noticed right away. At first glance they looked like white with silver glitter but if you look closely it's white leopard print! Now you know I had to do a D.I.Y on my nails so of course I did! I was so excited because I've done this design a while back and posted a tutorial using standard leopard colors. I've been flaunting it for the past few days now and have gotten tons of complements. People always mistake it for Minx too! Check it out and let me know what you Flaunt Fashionistas think!

Flaunt Feet: My Latest Shoe Purchases

Patented distressed brown pumps Patented black & white platform heels

Leather royal blue gladiator platforms Leather camel buckle boots

Wet Seal snake-skin brown platforms Wet Seal patented black loafer platforms

A couple days ago I went downtown with some friends that were shopping for birthday outfits and shoes. We happened to go back to my secret shoe store that I haven't visited in months! They had a few new pairs that I went crazy for! I love, love, love them all so much and can't wait to flaunt them! I also received my shipment yesterday of two pairs of heels that I bought from WetSeal.com which came out to $32 total while using promo code: ENT0809 for free shipping! I think I did pretty well budget-wise considering how many pairs of shoes I got in two days!

Also I'm soooo sorry I haven't been able to post my outfits for many weeks now. The camera went m.i.a not to mention I rarely have anyone to take full length pics of me. I'll try harder to get that going especially sense so many of you like those type of post the most, and it's also my favorite to post for you Flaunt Fashionistas!

Flaunt Fabulous Finds: F21 vs. Herve Leger

Forever 21 $19.80 Herve Leger $1,350

Forever 21 $22.80 Herve Leger $730

Ok so Forever 21 has managed to do it again! Currently they have a few dresses featured on their online site inspired by Herve Leger's infamous bandage dress. I have to say that the F21 dresses are pretty darn close to the real thing and obviously a fraction of the price. Get them while they're still hot and available flaunt fashionistas!
